Plexus unveils revamped secondment business, Engage

Unveils engage news

Plexus is putting lawyers first with the launch of its revamped secondment business, Engage.

Plexus Engage rethinks the way legal secondments are offered in Australia, unlocking long-term career benefits for lawyers while transforming the delivery of legal services for clients.

Plexus General Manager, Anna Mahood says Engage is the first truly lawyer-centric model in Australia.

“The number of firms offering legal secondments is growing, but everyone is missing the same element – namely, the real service orientation for clients and lawyers,” says Mahood.

“Clients have never been more attuned to their experience of service, and lawyers are looking for more than a temp job; they want real opportunities to build a career. That’s what Engage is all about.”

Plexus has spent the past six months redesigning its secondment business with two main objectives: to put people at the heart of secondments, and to make it easy for clients to do business with Plexus.

“You’re only as good as your people. With Engage, our lawyers are our number one priority,” says Mahood. “We really over-invest in our people so that both lawyers and clients benefit.”

Plexus Engage is investing in new support services, coaching and professional development to create an environment for lawyers who want to build careers. One of the key components is enhanced training in non-legal areas, such as project management, basic accounting, and P&L.

“There are lots of gaps in the traditional legal skillset that are increasingly required in the commercial legal environment,” Mahood adds. “Our mission is to fill these gaps, giving lawyers a holistic approach to client challenges and the business skills they need to build their careers.”

To attract and retain the right talent, Plexus Engage offers benefits, performance management, and structured career development. In this way, Plexus Engage gives clients access to the best legal minds enabled by the tools and support they need for success.

In addition, Plexus Engage has established a new specialist business team who will support clients with advice on optimal resource allocation for their teams. According to Mahood, this is a unique value proposition in the Australian market.

“What we’re offering is more than bums on seats; we become a trusted adviser. We partner with clients to find the optimal mix of resources to solve business challenges, now and in the future,” she says.

Mahood says Plexus Engage brings meaningful change for lawyers and clients: “Thinking differently is in our DNA. We are constantly looking for ways to meet more of our clients’ needs, while also pioneering new career options for lawyers. That’s what Engage is all about.”
