Today is R U OK? Day.

What started as a documentary by Gavin Larkin to honour his father who died by suicide and prevent other families from suffering the same grief, has become a national call to arms of friends, families and colleagues to reach out to those in their lives and start the conversation with a simple question: R U OK?

Life has its ups and downs - it happens to all of us.

One in five (20%) Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year and mental health problems are the third biggest health problem in Australia, after heart disease and cancer. Chances are someone in your circle might be struggling.

What’s become clear is that people may not show obvious signs of distress or crisis.

At Plexus, we recognise that particularly with Covid uncertainties and numerous lockdowns, maintaining good mental health is tougher than ever. We can’t control everything that happens in the life of our team members, but want to ensure our team has the resources they need and a safe space at work to help them get their mental health back on track should they feel they are struggling.

As part of our Employee Assistance Program all Plexus Internal Employees can claim up to AU$1,000 per employee, per annum for psychologists, psychiatrists or counselling services they engage.
