L’Oréal New Zealand Pty Ltd, Level 2, 600 Great South Road, Ellerslie, New Zealand 1051. Ph: 09 583 4000

Promotional Period:

Start date: 29/05/23 at 12:01 am AEST

End date: 21/08/23 at 11:59 pm AEST

Submission Period:

Start date: 29/05/23 at 12:01 am AEST

End date: 14/07/23 at 11:59 pm AEST

Eligible entrants:

  • Entry is only open to Australian and New Zealand citizens (or permanent residents) who are aged 18 years or over on the Promotional Period Start date and who are a qualified hairdresser or apprentice hairdresser employed at a salon in Australia or New Zealand, or a student enrolled full time at a private hairdressing college in Australia or New Zealand.
  • All entrants must be available to travel to Melbourne to participate in the ANZ finalist round between 19th August and 20th August 2023.
  • All salon entrants who make it to the final round must still be employed at the salon they originally entered with at the beginning of the Promotional Period.
  • For individuals entering as a student, they need to be enrolled full time at the hairdressing college through the entire duration of the Promotional Period.
  • The entrants’ salon must be trading at the time of entry (for salon entrants). If the salon is trading with L’Oréal Australia or L’Oréal New Zealand, it must be fully compliant with L’Oréal’s conditions of sale and credit terms at all stages of the Promotion in order for the entrant to be eligible.
  • Where applicable, entrants must obtain the consent of the salon owner(s) where they are employed in order to enter into this Promotion.
  • No judge, under any circumstances, will be allowed to have any of their family, friends, or affiliated businesses and salons entering the Promotion.

Any model used by an entrant at any stage of the Promotion must be aged 18 years or over (“Model”). The entrant must have written consent from the model to take and use their photo and personal image in this Promotion. The entrant must also have written consent from the photographer who has taken the photo as part of the look creation entry to use the image as part of this Promotion.

If an entrant is a student rather than an employee of a salon – the above requirements referencing a salon do not apply, however, they must have consent from their private hairdressing college to enter into this Promotion.

If a Top 8 Finalist and their Model OR just the Finalist need to isolate due to COVID at the time of the ANZ Finalist round, they unfortunately will not be able to participate and will forfeit any right to a prize. If the Finalist’s Model only (and not the Finalist) is required to isolate, then the Finalist can still participate in the ANZ Finalist round with a different Model. This also applies to Hairstylists Team entries (two (2) person maximum).

Entrant rules:

  • Entry may be as a “Hairstylists Team” or “Individual” on behalf of the applicable salon or college.
  • An Individual entry consists of one (1) person being the cutter, stylist & colourist.
  • A Hairstylists Team entry can have a maximum of two (2) individuals from the same salon/college consisting of one (1) Colourist and one (1) Cutter/Stylist.
  • All members of the Hairstylists Team must meet the ‘eligible entrants’ criteria above.
  • A Hairstylists Team entry must be on behalf of one salon/college.
  • An Individual entry must be on behalf of one salon/college.
  • The Hairstylists Team or Individual will be required to create a ‘Meta-Morphosis’ look on a model present during the ANZ stage and a new model present during the International Stage.
  • The Model/s used at any stages of the Promotion must have had an allergy alert test 48 hours before the color application or have completed the L’Oréal Professionnel Paris ‘Professional Safety’ protocol.
  • No Hairstylists Team or Individual may use the same Model for more than one (1) entry and/or Round. This means that should an entrant make it to further Round(s), they must create a new look with a new Model who has not previously been used as part of the Promotion. For the removal of doubt, different Hairstylists Teams and Individuals also cannot share the same Model and submit a different entry.
  • If more than one entry is chosen for the ANZ Finale from the same Hairstylists Team/Individual, the highest-ranking entry will advance to the ANZ Finale and the other chosen entries will be discarded.
  • All entrants must create an original and creative final look using only L’Oréal Professionnel Paris products on the Model and no other products during each Round.
  • The members of the Hairstylists Teams must remain the same throughout the Promotion (from the ANZ Round to the Global Grand Finale). Proof of ID, such as passport or driver’s license will be checked by the Promoter to verify each Hairstylists Team member’s name. The Promoter will only deviate from this rule in the case of exceptional circumstances (such as death, disability or serious illness), to be determined at the Promoter’s sole discretion.
  • The Promoter may deviate from any rules outlined in this section as it sees fit and in its absolute discretion.

How to Enter:

To enter, the entrant must complete the following steps during the Submission Period:

  • Create their own interpretation of the Meta-Morphosis ‘look’ (mandatory theme) using only L’Oréal Professional colour and styling products on a model. The Meta-Morphosis ‘look’, the entry and the entrant must conform to the following, as applicable:
    • The 2023 theme brief: create a well-executed, modern, multi-dimensional and personalised Meta-Morphosis looks for everyone around the world. Create one original look illustrating meta hair, made to express beauty without any real hair constraints, matching the spirit of L’Oréal Professionnel’s brand codes.
    • This implies a real transformation, with a bold creative statement, pushing the boundaries and highlighting technical skills and creativity. A strong transformation of the Model is expected. The look must be realised with L’Oréal Professionnel Paris products
    • The hair can be any length, texture or color but has to be inspirational and show skills in the color, style/cut and finish.
    • The hair must be in optimal condition – if the hair is in bad condition the Model/entry will not be considered as a finalist.
    • The entrant/entry must show respect of safety and security rules.
    • A cut, if featured, must show exceptional technical skill.
    • The finish on the hair must not be overloaded with product.
    • The hair must suit the Model’s face and bone structure
    • Wefts, weaves and extensions are allowed. However, submitted looks must be a minimum of 50% natural hair using exclusively L’Oréal Professionnel Paris colour. No full wigs are allowed.
    • The clothes and makeup worn by the Model should enhance and complement the overall look that the entrant has created and not detract from it.
    • The Model does not have to be professional but should be confident, self-assured and ‘own’ their look.
    • Refer to “Round 1” section below for detailed judging criteria for the available awards.
  • Take three (3) untouched photos (any submission with clearly edited work may be disqualified) of the Meta-Morphosis ‘look’ created on their Model (“Photos”). The Photos must consist of the following format:
    • One (1) photo of Model before the Meta-Morphosis ‘look’ from the front;
    • One (1) final look seen from either the side or back view; and

    • all photos must be photographed on a white background with the Model in the centre; no scans of printed photos will be accepted;
    • all photos must be high-resolution; and
    • the photos must not have been used in any previous competitions.
  • Visit https://styleandcolourtrophy.lorealprofessionnel.com/country/anz and fully complete and submit the registration form with all requested details (must select “I’m a Hair Professional” in the initial stage of registration), including Instagram handle used to complete the step below (only required if the entrant has an Instagram account), upload their Photo(s) and write a short description per Photo (Caption/description must describe the look, the colour/cut technique used and they can mention products, objective and inspiration).
  • Entrants may choose to post the three (3) untouched Photos (in line with the above) to their Instagram account. However, they must respect the corresponding hashtags while posting the Pictures on their social media accounts: #SCTrophy #SCTrophy2023 #SCTrophyANZ. And tag the brand organizing the conquest @lorealpro, and either @lorealpro_education_aus or @lorealpro_education_nzl or both.
  • Products that MUST be used to create the Meta-Morphosis ‘look’:
